Don’t think of us guides. Think of us as friends in Barcelona for a day. At Barcelona Design Tours, we like to keep things chatty and informal as we walk around introducing you to the city’s art, architecture and design.
Looking forward to meeting you in person, but in the meantime here is a bit more about us.
Brian Gallagher is an RIAI registered architect who first came to Barcelona in 1991 in order to complete his studies. He received his Masters M Metropolis from the UPC in 1996 under the director Ignasi de Solà-Morales. As well as a practicing architect he is the co-founder of B-Guided magazine a food, fashion, lifestyle and visual arts publication that, since 1999, has focused on emerging cultural projects in Barcelona.
Suzanne Wales is an Australian journalist who as a teenager pinned up photos of Gaudí’s architecture onto her bedroom wall. She moved here in 1992, and started to write about the arts and culture scene in her adopted home. She is a regular contributor to Dwell, Frame Magazine, Wallpaper* and other design publications, and is still constantly bowled over by Barcelona’s visual richness. She spends most of her free time poking around Barcelona’s independent boutiques and flea markets, and likes nothing more than discovering wearable clogs in old ladies shoe shops.
Originally from Germany, Laura Tammen is an art historian and cultural manager. She has worked as a curator and associate director for internationally established art galleries in Cologne, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, a city she now calls home. In 2016 she co-founded the independent curator platform Tangent Projects. For her PhD, Laura is researching the mechanisms of the art market and particularly the changing role of artists and galleries. She loves to travel and enjoys sharing insider views of her Barcelona to like-minded, art-loving travellers.
Tsering Frykman-Glen is a British-born but Barcelona-based artist and Independent curator. She has worked as a curator for the past 11 years in London, Milan and Sydney. She was co-founder of The Spare Room and Remote Space Projects, but her most recent curatorial endeavor is Tangent Projects – and independent curator platform. With an insatiable appetite and critical eye, Tsering is an expert on Barcelona’s emerging art scene.
